Seriously, it's been a WHILE. Breaking my foot last Spring seriously derailed me from gardening most of the summer. Crutches can do that.
And once I lost my gardening mojo, I lost my blogging mojo. But the past is the past.
I was lucky enough in 2016 to finally get a mulch border put in around our house. I'm really happy with how it looks, but due to trying to keep costs down it does mean that there will be some resulting challenges this year. We initially wanted a stone patio in the back of the house under the raised deck (we have a walkout basement and I was dreaming of something like this...)
But there seemed to be better uses for $10K than a patio we'd realistically never use because we already have a deck. So we have a whole lotta mulch where the patio would be.
Which leads me to my 2017 goals:
1. Add to plantings in front of house (less a mishmash of plants and more a thought-out collection)
2. Look at feasibility of stone pavers under deck (to be done on the cheap by moi)
3. Design plan and start plantings in back of house. Possible ideas are a vegetable bed, flowering hedges, butterfly garden.
4. BLOG, BLOG, BLOG. For myself. To keep a record of ideas for my garden, what I've learned through researching different gardening options, and a scrapbook of pictures of my garden. As well as keeping a random collection of cottage decorating inspiration and ideas for my future beach cottage (a girl can dream).
