Winter is such a nice time to regroup. I like to look back at the past year and evaluate what worked and didn't work. Trying to figure out why certain plants didn't perform as I hoped gives me the opportunity to make changes (the petunias in more sunlight did great- I'll move the rest next year) or take a whole different direction (I tried geraniums in that window box the last 2 years and they never took off).
Winter also gives me the chance to do a little research. What plants did I see at the Arboretum last year that I might want to try out? What will work on the west side of my house now that I'll be planting there? WHY IS THIS CLAY SO DARN HARD?!?!?!
Last month, I made a list brainstorming lots of ideas for 2017 and then promptly forgot about it with the holidays. So my plan now is to sit down with some books, magazines, catalogs, and ye olde Pinterest and get some more ideas. Make a whole ADDITIONAL brainstorm list based on research and then start deciding what I have the money/energy/imagination for in 2017.
